James F. Conway was President of Rotary International in 1969-70. His theme was "R for Rotary: Review and Renew".

James was born in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York and a graduate from the Law School of Fordham University in New York City.

He was a Past President of the Nassau County (New York) Bar Association in Rockville centre. He has been a committee chairman of the American Red Cross and the Cerebral Palsy Chapters and a treasure of the Nassau-Suffolk Young Men’s Christian Association.

A Past President of the Rotary Club of Rockville centre he is a front runner of the Rotary Club of Hempstead, New York and has been a return since 1943. He has served Rotary International a Second Vice President, Director, District Governor and Committee Chairman and member. He was Chairman of the North American Transportation Committee for the 1971 Rotary  International Convention in Sydney, Australia.
