Horace Bedggood was the President of the Rotary Club of Melbourne 1952-53 and District Governor 1959-60 (District 250). He was Chairman of shoe manufacturers and importers Bedggood & Company.

Whilst President of Rotary Melbourne, Horace hosted Rotary International President H.J. Brunnier in Melbourne.  He attended the Jubilee World Convention of Rotary in Chicago in 1955.

Acting as the Governor's Special Representative, he organised the formation of the Rotary Clubs of Hawthorn in 1953 and of Box Hill in 1956.
