Frank Newman was leader of the Club Project for 1962-63: "Papua - New Guinea Study Visit". The objectives were to develop Rotary fellowship with the five Rotary Clubs in the area and to give the Study Team the opportunity meet people of Papua New Guinea and to study their life, activities and anspirations.

The five members of the team, under the leadership of Frank, were away five weeks. The full report was printed and published, and favourably commented on by the Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies.
