Barton Hack joined the Rotary Club of Melbourne in 1952 and was the President of 1962-63 and District Governor 1967-68 (District 280).
As President of the Club, he was the first son of a Past President, Clem Hack.
During his year as President, two "Trains of Knowledge" were organised to bring young people from Wangaratta and the Northeast and also from the Rosebud area to assist them in choosing their careers. Members were involved in meeting the trains, organising transport and helping to show the students no less tha sixty types of activities in which they had expressed interest. Naturally, most of the factories, shops and institutions visited were under the direct control of members of Melbourne Rotary.
