Albert Zachary Baker was President of Rotary International in 1955-56. His vision for Rotary , “That Rotarians would use their great resources to extend neighbourless around the world”. Develop Our Resources.

Albert was born on a Texas farm in 1890. The first of eight children attended the university in Tennessee and graduated from the college of law at Ohio State University. As an alternate attorney he settled in Cleveland serving, mostly clients in the livestock and meat industry.

He was Chairman, President and General Manager of the Cleveland Union Stockyards and President of the American Stockyards Association. He served on the boards of automobile bar and farmers association how much a life member advisor to the Cleveland, Salvation Army and the 33rd degree Mason. Albert Baker was active in the Chamber of Commerce and a director of two banks.

Albert Baker was a Rotarian for 47 years, joining the Rotary Club Cleveland in 1929 and serving to become the District Governor, Director, trustee, member of many committees and President of the  Rotary at Foundation. As President he greatly encouraged extension, especially into Africa whose needs for development, especially for understanding, he saw as fertile soil for Rotary growth and an opportunity for service
